Eagle Scout Project
I completed my Eagle Scout project in November of 2015. The Eagle Project is an important milestone that must be completed on the path to earning the rank of Eagle Scout which showcases the scout’s leadership abilities and dedication to service. For my project I worked closely with the Rensselaer Land Trust to design and construct a 24′ footbridge spanning the Black Brook on Robert P. Ingalls Preserve in Nassau, NY. As the majority of the preserve lies on the far side of the brook from the parking area, this project helped to open up the entire property to hiking, birding, snowshoeing, and other outdoor activities. Special care was taken to minimize the environmental impact of the project in accordance with the New York State DEC because the Black Brook is a trout spawning stream. Nearly $2,000 in material and monetary donations were solicited from family and friends as well as local businesses in order to complete the project.
